We Are This

Banook Canoe Club is a competitive sprint canoe and kayak club. If interested in rowing on the lake (top right of image above), the North Star Rowing Club also is situated on the lake.

All members ( Family, Senior, or Individual) can access boats during scheduled “Try a Boat” sessions.

New for 2022

NEW for Masters age Members: If you are a member 25 years and older (Masters age), you may participate in Masters' War Canoe practice at no additional cost. If you decide you want to race, you will need to pay the ADCKC fee. If you love it and want to train in team boats/other boats, you can then join the Coached Masters group.

War Canoe practices are held Tuesdays at 6:30pm and Saturday mornings at 8:45am.

For those interested in becoming part of the Masters group and paddling more regularly, the options are Un-coached or Coached; the differences are outlined below.

For those over 25 years who have no experience with sprint canoe/kayak, follow us on social media for updates on "Learn To Paddle” sessions or visit the Learn to Paddle page to see if sessions are available!

Un-coached Masters

This tends to be experienced paddlers, comfortable going out on their own without a coach boat and able to self-rescue should they tip. For those people that own a boat, they can access their boat during regular club hours.

Cost: $80.00 plus $92 ADCKC fee + HST (boat storage fees are extra)

There are 2 informal un-coached groups that tend to go out at 5:30am and 7:00/7:30am.

Club boats can be used weekday mornings until 8:30am; evenings 5:00pm - 7:30pm

Saturday 9:00am-10:30am

Coached Masters

These paddlers have varying levels of experience – from beginners to seasoned experts. There are scheduled coached times with a specific focus on different days. Again, if you own your boat, you can access it whenever the club is open.

Cost: $150.00 + $92 ADCKC/CKC fees +HST

Coached Sessions:

We are on the water from about May to late October, depending on the weather. Off season we are in the gym/weight room.
