Banook Canoe Club is proud to announce the successful grand opening of its newly revitalized facility, marking the completion of a transformative project years in the making.

Following many years of planning and three years of construction, the club officially opened its doors on May 30, 2026. Nearly 200 guests attended the celebration, including current and former members, government representatives, donors, volunteers, community partners and supporters from across the region.

The completion of this project was made possible through the generosity and commitment of donors, volunteers, members, community partners and all levels of government who shared Banook Canoe Club’s vision for a modern, inclusive and sustainable facility.

Founded in 1903, Banook Canoe Club has been a cornerstone of the Dartmouth community for more than 120 years. The revitalized facility will ensure the club can continue its tradition of excellence by supporting athletes of all ages and abilities, hosting national and international competitions, and serving as a vibrant community gathering place on the shores of Lake Banook for generations to come.

The new facility reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to fostering participation, athletic development and community engagement while preserving Banook’s rich history and legacy within the sport of paddling.
