We invite all current members of Banook Canoe Club to this Annual General Meeting. 

Date: Thursday September 26 at 7:00 pm
Location: The Banook Gym 

Please use the Nowlan Street parking lot.

All current members are encouraged to attend this meeting. Only members 19 years of age and older are permitted to vote.

The Agenda, 2023 AGM Minutes, and Board Reports will be available advance of this meeting. The club's website will have those available here by Thursday, September 19 (one week in advance of the AGM).

Elections of Officers and Board Members¶

As part of the AGM, elections for the Board will take place at this meeting.

Except for the Past President, the Directors and Officers shall be elected by the members at each annual general meeting of the Club. The Past President is automatically an Officer of the Board.

Each year, all Board positions are available for election. They are listed below.

The Officers of the Club:

• President 
• Vice-President 
• Finance Director
• Secretary

In addition to the officers above, the Board may consist of the following positions: 

• Paddling Director
• Swim Director
• Fundraising Director 
• Facilities Director, 
• Communications Director
• Membership Director
• Masters Representative
• Athlete Representative
• Director-at-large

According to the bylaws, all roles are eligible for election each year at the AGM, however, the following roles are vacant and therefore we would appreciate your consideration in volunteering to fill the following VACANT positions:

• Co-Paddling Director
• Fundraising Director
• Membership Director

Nominations for the Board¶

Nominees seeking election to any of the Board positions above should submit their name and position of interest to Kim Gaudet, Past President or Jim Johnson, Commodore/Board President in advance of the AGM. 

Nominations may also be accepted at the AGM. Anyone seeking nomination must be present at the AGM or must authorize some member present at the meeting to announce their willingness to act as a Director.

Eligibility for Board election¶

Every voting member of the Club shall be eligible to be elected as a Director of the Board. Non members can be elected to the board, however, cannot represent more than one fifth of the Directors.
