SOCAN

SOCAN is a not-for-profit music rights organization that connects more than four-million music creators worldwide, and more than a quarter-million businesses and individuals in Canada. Visit SOCAN's site to learn more about why these fees are charged during any events where music is played.

Alcohol

When it comes closer to your event time, you can look at your guest list and think about alcohol preferences. You cannot bring your own alcohol, but you can bring your own toasting wine, paying an uncorking fee for each bottle used to toast your special day. As far as favourite alcoholic drinks, you can pre-order something through Banook before the event and it will be available for your guests at the bar. You can have an open bar, with a tally kept and paid by you at the end of the night.

COVID-19 Restrictions

COVID-19 restrictions apply to most events currently. This guide has advice to reduce the spread of COVID-19 Communities, Culture and Heritage

And this guide has advice for running a restaurant-like activity. Restaurant COVID-19 Rapid Recovery Guide for Nova Scotia July 2021

You can review the current restrictions on how food and drink is served during an indoor event in NS to get a better idea of how your event will have to be conducted. Food and drink has to be served to your seated guests. Servers are required, no open foods or beverages are allowed in buffet style. It is to avoid gathering places around food and refreshments. You can confer with catering companies on the best way to provide for your guests. You may be able to have hors d'oeuvres served by a waiting staff. Food service companies would be a great source of information on how best to feed your guests.

You will be required to use Banook's bartenders for the entirety of the event. With our liquor licence, we are required to assure all aspects are upheld at all times. When you confirm your event, we can work on any specific aspects of your event.

As far as linens, dishes, catering companies, tables ex: if you prefer round tables, decorations and sound systems etc., you can rent your own. For decorating for your event, as long as you do not attach anything to the walls, you can rent whatever you need to match your taste and colour scheme.
