We are thrilled to announce that our very own Kevin McIntyre, Head Coach at Banook Canoe Club, has been awarded the 2024 CKC Coach Developer Award. This prestigious award recognizes coaches who have made significant contributions to the development of new coaches in the sport of canoe and kayak.
Kevin's dedication to coaching and leadership has been instrumental in developing youth athletes and fostering their growth both on and off the water. His commitment to the holistic development of his athletes is evident in the success of his athletes, with several being selected to represent Canada internationally.
One of Kevin's standout contributions is the creation of the Coach-in-Training (CiT) program, which provides young athletes with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to pursue coaching roles in the future. This program has become a cornerstone of Banook's coaching development, offering mentorship and training to youth from diverse backgrounds.
We are proud to have Kevin leading our coaching team and congratulate him on this well-deserved award. We would also like to extend our congratulations to the other award recipients, including Phil Laliberté and Océane Marchand, who received the CKC Club Development Award, and Abenaki's Head Coach Emily Parsons (Banook Alumni!), who received the CKC Coach Developer Award alongside Kevin.
These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of coaches and club leaders across the country, and we are honoured to be part of this community.
Please join us in congratulating Kevin on this outstanding achievement!
The CKC Club Development Award, Coach Developer Award, and Coach Recognition Awards are presented annually to recognize coaches and club leaders who have made significant contributions to the development of the sport of canoe and kayak in Canada.
