Banook Summer Swim Team

BANOOK LAKERS

The Banook Lakers are a well-established summer swim club that competes in provincial swim meets throughout the summer. Swim meets take place during the weekends around the province. Our swimmer are encouraged to participate and race against other clubs’ swimmers.

PRACTICES

During the off season, the Lakers practice once per week at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.  In July and August, the Lakers traditionally practiced every morning (Mon-Thurs) at the Dartmouth Sportsplex. With the closure of the Dartmouth Sportsplex in May 2017, the team will be practicing in another venue during the summer of 2017 and 2018.  More information to follow.

The team consists of swimmers of all ages and abilities. Members will learn and improve strokes and speed and enjoy an awesome workout and fun at the same time! The team is lead by fully certified swim coaches with years of experience coaching swim teams.

COSTS

  • Winter Fees: TBA
  • Summer 2017 Fees: Join the Banook Lakers for the entire summer for only $100  ($200 non-members). And competitive is $155 or ($255 for non-members) – this includes all Swim Nova Scotia and swim meets

WHO CAN JOIN

Banook members and non-members are welcome to join!

Feel free to encourage your neighbors or your child’s friends to join BCC summer swim team this season, even if they can’t or don’t wish to be full members of the Banook club.  As with other years, the Lakers swim team is open to all, regardless of competing paddling club affiliation.

Banook Canoe Club (BCC) is a non-profit organization, established in 1903 and managed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

This year many positions will be opening as members have been on the board for two or more years. We are seeking new board members to continue our success and take BCC to new heights.

The responsibilities of the board members are:

· Attend the monthly board meeting. 2.5 hrs. The board acts both in a functional & governance manner.
· Board members assist with projects relevant to their area of responsibility.
· Manage sub committees if required and report back to the board.
· The board works towards achieving the vision statement while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

The positions that are opening this year are:

· President
· Vice President
· Paddling Chair
· Fundraising Chair
· Membership Chair
· Accounting Chair
