Welland – Nationals Day 2

After 2 days of k1 competitions we are all very proud of our teams results.

Alex Canning is having an exceptional regatta in U17 with a Gold medal win today in the 1000m K1 race. He took home  a silver medal yesterday in the 200m K1 and also a very impressive 4th place finish in the 6000m race. Ian Gaudet has also started out the week very well especially as a 14 year old racing in U16 and making finals in both his 200m and 1000m races with  4th and 8th place finishes respectively. Thomas Cox also made the 200m final today which meant all of the Banook team members racing today made it to their finals – which is a huge accomplishment for our club.

Tomorrow we start crew boats for both the men and women and have a very full day of races. Be sure to check out the live broadcast of the races on the CKC website. The commentators are doing a great job at covering each race from start to finish. Here is the link to the site:

The draw is also available on the CKC website.  The U17 mixed War Canoe will be one of the top races to watch and it is at 12:11 Halifax time so it doesn’t even interfere with your work day J.

Cheers,
Michael
